time goes by so fast. before you know it, it's aredy the end of p1.

Today was the screening of all our p1 videos and I must say, I'm impressed with some the group's works. The one that really left an impression on me was Ezyan's grp. Although the message wasn't as clear as the other groups, it was the funniest of all.

I was quite happy with our video and the reactions of the audience really encouraged me alot. I really thought the quality wasn't very good but since everyone seems to have a good time, I guess what's really important in the end is the content and story.

In the 2 months, it was mixed emotions for all of us. Happy, sad, angry, frustrated, relieved.

Working with my groupmates made me realise that in the working industry, you can never choose the people you want to work with and through thick and thin, we have to learn to adapt to different kinds of people to survive in this industry.

Say goodbye to year1 and yo to year2.

Yes it's me. I'm the one to write the closing for the blog. I'm honored, really.

Anyways, I've gotta say it's been a pretty hard, long battle. Lots of problems were faced, and fortunately were overcome. Things had been lost, things had been learnt, and there are some things we really wouldn't want to forget. A lot of effort and time had been spent on this project and though some of us may think it's a crappy piece of work, at least I'm still pleased, satisfied and proud of it. Though I think I'm going to curl in a corner and hide my face once our video is shown on the big screen...

Well it just shows me how much work we will be doing in the future; this is just a mere taster to what more that is to come in the next two years we'd be facing in MOI. Good luck to us all...

Lastly, I'd like to thank my group members. Seriously THANK YOU! You guys did a great job. Hana especially, good lord, whatever would I do without you? Hahas, as I've said in the earlier post she deserves 70% of all the credit among us as she was the one who did almost all the video editing, and salvaged and pieced together all the work, so yes, thank you Hana~~

Thanks to all the lecturers who helped us and taught us the needed stuff, especially Amanda for guiding us on our P1 project. Thanks to those who gave us moral and back-up support too! Like Kaya, Brian and Bryan, Jovi, etc...

Thanks thanks thanks... That's what this post is about... Thank yous :D

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Even the caps lock can't express what I'm feeling right now.

FRUSTRATION...

Charliieeeee......Just found out from Kester that the problems that I face in "rendering the stupid thing or rather not being able to render it" problem is the same problem Featrice faced. Some of the files are corrupted.

I have to re edit EVERYTHING. ZOMG.

Let's seeee...tomorrow if I come to school at 8.30am, I'll have 14 hours to complete everything and let Kaz and Jocelyn help me add the subtitles and render.

FEELING SCREWED AND FRUSTRATED

La Di Da Di Da.

The finishing line is almost there. Looking forward to Friday's screening but at the same time, not looking forward to it. I felt so inferior today after seeing the other group's special effects. It was really mind boogling. I stunned there for 5 seconds, my jaws wide open and a parrot on my shoulder telling me that I just got owned.

Even though our group doesn't have such fancy smancy effects and such, I think we did a pretty good job overall...minus the shitty quality which Alfie says we don't need to worry about but Amanda sort of says it sort of matters.

Fata fata. The video is 90% done. what's left is, well. We are still stuck at Adobe Encore not really sure how to export it to dvd. Hope can finish everything by tuesday. Good job guys....or girls. yes.

Good news: we're approximately 70 - 80% done, or even more!
Bad news: I'm sick... Eh that isn't really bad news...

But anyways, so glad things are progressing quite smoothly... All that's left is more video editing, adding of the sounds and music, rendering/exporting, and the paperwork. I think that's all? Hope so.

From what I've seen our video looks alright. I'm satisfied with it.

............Nothing else for me to say. I just had a lot of problem tryingto finish the animation because of my sickness that made me want to curl up in a corner and die. Ahh, now that the ordeal is over I can relax a bit, focus on my H&C and help Hana out with the rest of the work. She's done a lot and did a great job on the video editing, so most of the credit should go to her.

Cheers!

Time for me to get my rest and hopefully be up and running in good condition by Monday.

I was late in posting, I forgot to post which was supposed to be posted on 17th march. 17th, on tuesday. we had presentation on Interim 2. I think most of the groups were all doing quite well. everyone was almost done with the videos of their individual groups. it was interesting to look at each other's work in progress and I enjoyed the videos. By now, I can grasp the style and idea most of the groups are doing. like I mentioned before, I am looking forward to the end videos of everybody's videos.
We are trying our best to edit and finish as fast as we can on the editing and animation. we are going to do out voice overs tomorrow and probably on friday, if we cannot finish. I think we are sort of right on time in schedule though we didnt really follow it exactly to our schedule we did previously before the production. maybe a little rush, but we still can cope.
since we are not really done with our animation, amanda was probably worried we might have not enough time. we are going for consultation on friday hopefully.

Today was a horrible day. why? just ask the man by the name of Premiere Pro.

Almost went crazy when some parts of the video didnt work and I had to re edit everything for the third time. It happened at 7pm and I had just 4hours to do the rough cut for tomorrow's interim2. So, whatever you see tomorror is the product of 4hours chionging.

Things we didn't manage to put in are the animation, opening and ending sequence, voice over, subtitles etc.

to kaz...i hope you can finish the animation and give it to me by this fri. Seriously won't have time cause we will all be busy with our final for hnc and vidfun. plus we have to export everything before Jocelyn can do the bee animation etc.

Oops sorry for the lack of updates. I have been dropping dead on my bed for the past week now.

Gotta admit that I have been slacking though, haha.

Hana want to redo a couple of scenes. Hope there's enough time. Time is running now... Usually it's walking, but when you need it most, it runs away as if the devil were on its heels.

We wanted to finish filming the scenes we were to redo today, but because someone was extremely late and had the rain catch up on us, we couldn't. Joy.

Managed to only do a coupl of shots before it got dark due to the overbearing clouds. The storm that later came on was kinda scary...

Ah hopefully we'd complete video filming by this coming wednesday. Interim Two makes me nervous, because I think our video is around just average level...

Still got lotsa animation to do... Man, I am so not keen to showing my animation on the big screen... ldfjglkjdfgkld!

today we finished up most of the filming we had to do, we are left a little more to film in little india and we would have done filming after that. we filmed the reservoir scenes today and yesterday. the mosquito bites really accumulated a lot and it's itching A LOT. A LOT! and before the reservoir scene we did the time-lapse, it took a long time, obviously, but it was fun and I'm looking forward to the end result. After the time-lapse, actually we are planning to shoot the reservoir scene tomorrow, cause it got quite dark already, partially due to the dark clouds that seems like it's gonna pour anytime. but, we saw the beautiful scenery so we changed our minds and rushed for time to get the footage. in the end, we kind of managed to finish it by today.

we planned to go little india on sunday to finish the last of the filming. and in between during the free time, we'd doing the editing and technical stuffs on the video. we should be doing voiceovers next week.

I am gonna do the cd cover, while Hana is busy with the video editing. Kaz is quite busy with both h&c and moi p1 I think.

exporting took quite a long time.

Tuesday, March 10, 2009 { 11:57 PM }

The floor and I are best friends now. We see each other more often now and our relationship is progressing quite well...but I predict we will break up end of march.

I managed to do abit of video editing and we found out that the scene in Little India is not good enough and therefore cannot be used. So, unwillingly we have to go back there and shoot again. Supposed to shoot the bedok reservoir scene today but unfortunately it got too dark and we were rewarded with mosquito bites and a locked gate.

Then at night, we shoot Jocelyn's part which is Drawing essentials and 2Dart fundamentals. It was abit hard cause Jocelyn is a very soft speaking person. Yes, I have never heard her shout. In the end, we decided to do subtitles throughout the video because the audio might not be as clear as we think and this aslso benefits the hearing impaired.

Made a list of the scenes that we missed and forgot to do. Hope it doesn't rain so we can finish it all faster and still have time for post production.

Rain rain go away la, come again in april. We all want to finish our damn project, rain rain go away la.

We are almost done with filmiiiiing. I am so full of joy. Or anger. Or frustration. Or just feeling prissy. I don't know. Stupid female hormones.

Anyway, I do know there's some joy due to the finishing of filming, BUT I still have animation and DesH&C to do. Great combination. The only thing left to film is the VidFun part. And the time lapse. And the goodbye scene. Yaaaaaaaaaaay.

Oh boy. A week before Interim 2, and I am still behind on my animation. Effin' A, Kaz, effin' A. So screwed, but if I rush like crazy for one day without being distracted at all (which is highly unlikely), I might be able to complete a part or two of the animation.

Mind over matter...

Yeah we can do this. I'm sure Hana and Jocelyn can do their part. I'd help out as much as I can, guys.

Sunday, March 8, 2009 { 1:44 AM }

we met early in the morning in school to shoot some scenes on hana and kaz's part. the school was quite quiet and also lesser people can interrupt while we film too. thats better and we seem to finish faster.

around noon, we ate and went to little india to shoot digital photography part of hana and the main guy character. it was Very hot and i thought i already turned black the minute we alight the bus. but the weather is Super unpredictable.

so, we continue on little india. we tried to search for a colorful background to film the scene. filming is really difficult under the hot sun. we film the scene quite fast, i think.

because we alight a bus stop later, we walked back. we found a restaurant-like india dining place which we wanna find. halfway, we almost thought we're lost. the ambience and look of the restaurant is quite beautiful but when we are standing at the other side of the road the person is already yelling to us for us to eat in their restaurant. i think hana & kaz didnt notice it. but he was shouting across since he saw us pointing and looking at the restaurant. i just ignore.
we decide to go on without using this restaurant.
and walking along we stopped around a traffic light, filmed some scenes on hana taking pics over the shoulder. we found another small shop nearby, it was colorful so we decide to take the shop scene there. luckily, the shop owner is kind enough to help us in the filming. the sky was already dark enough, then it start drizzling and keep getting heavier. we managed to finish filming right on time when the rain starts pouring.
so we finished and head home.

we're meeting tomorrow around kaz's house to film the garden scene.

Aww kaz, didn't know you were so unhappy. I know HnC is damn mentally tiring so you can ask me if you have any doubts ah. And it's ok to ask for help for the animation part la u idiot. I know Jocelyn tried to help with the bee but....haiz. Since I had no video to edit and no internet access in the 2D lab then, I was practically wth-ing. So, yesterday went home to find some music we can use.

I guess everyone is starting to feel the stress now. If you aren't then now's the time to panic. the first week of march is almost over so three weeks left, is not alot of time considering the school is killing us with two modules.

Today, we managed to confirm some audio and music that we'll be using. Also finished doing the stop motion part of our video which I'll be editing it later on.

The school camera is killing me. I hate it sooo much. FRUSTRATION. Alot of time was wasted cause we cannot extract the footage from the camera...which leaves me jobless with no editing.

Also, we can only film like 3hrs per day cause we need the sunlight...rather less than 2hrs because of lunch, our 2 modules clashing, us being late cause of exhaustion and lack of sleep and the rain.

Friday will be an off day. So, on saturday there is no excuse for being late. We wasted a lot of time by doing so but hope you all can make it on time. Let's chiong for 3 more weeks!

{ 12:58 AM }

Sorry I didn't post anything yesterday... Been falling asleep on my laptop for the past couple of days... I would have to warn it'd be rather full of complaints, but I really wanna voice it out.

I don't know if it's because of Design H&C or the production period, but I do admit it's been kind of hectic lately, especially with production & shooting of video started and the projects already set by DesH&C.

I think I can cope.

I do would like to voice my... displeasure at the timetable set for me, since I only had one module (P1) last block and had all the time in the world, and now when time is most needed, I am given a busy, and seemingly mentally tedious subject.

MOIP1 = physically draining + time-consuming
DesH&C = rather mentally straining
Living at Jurong West = time-consuming, rather physically draining with the stuff I carry and all

So... yes, I'm pretty tired, but I should really shut up now. I'm definitely not the only one drained from this or whatever.

So anyways, I'll report about Tuesday and today.

Tuesday was supposedly the first day of our production. Jocelyn was ill so she didn't join us, and hence, we didn't really get much done... But even if she did come, I don't think there was so much for us to do... Did manage to shoot the introduction scene though, and I started my animation.

Today we did stop-motion for one of the introductions as well. It took quite a lot of time? And we tried shooting my scene at the 2dAniLab, where we hoped there wouldn't be anyone around at nightfall but unfortunately we were wrong, and the crowd was still so alive with sound despite them being quiet.

*sigh*

Not to mention the school's video cams crapped up or something... Something about all the firewires being down... Pfft. So much joy in a day. Hopefully our personal digital cameras would do the job... I'm worried about the sound quality...

Ah, the animation. The animation for our video would be crappy, unfortunately... Well, depending on how you see it, but I'd have to insist that it's our chosen 'style'. Or something. It's... It's... *facepalm*

Oh, and Brian had pointed out some things to me about our storyboard in the presentation on Monday. He said that there are some special effects I wanted to use that is actually so difficult, even he or Bryan, with After Effects experience, wouldn't be able to pull it off.

Frankly... I thought I could do it, but after he said that and scared the living crap out of me, my morale has gone down. Really down. I don't think I can rely on my groupmates, as I'm the one who came up with ideas of those transitions so I'm responsible in making them happen.

...I really need some tea right now. And do my H&C...

Note to self: Add five extra teaspoons of sugar...

Monday, March 2, 2009 { 8:53 PM }

we had presentation on interim one today. we presented the finalised idea and the things we had done in pre-production of our MOI p1. today's presentation lasted a little longer than usual, might be because it took a longer time for the storyboards to be presented or maybe it was the comments? I thought the different groups ideas are all quite fun, but the one that left an impact on me was caiyun's group because I quite like their idea of using the HP style. it was quite a fresh idea.

we were supposed to improvise more on our gannt chart and make it more precise especially the time. actually we already did another more in-depth planning for a schedule that goes by days but not weeks. but it was more for our own reference to go according to the day-schedule.
hana and I asked about the camera loaning related stuff today. we are starting to film Hana part(which was the introduction part) tomorrow in the morning since we don't have 9am class for tomorrow luckily.

for the location, we might not use vivo? since it is part of a shopping center. oh we'll discuss further.
